Buying a house can be so trying......

Well, another delay to closing.....I feel like I am never going to get the keys!  Now it looks as though we may close on Friday or next Monday.  I had hoped to be done early this week so we could get the water and power turned on and be able to start painting in the garage.  I bought an electric paint sprayer.  I painted four rooms in my current house with brush and roller......never again if I can help it.
I guess I am just excited about having a new project that I can make into my altered dream house.  Altered because my tastes have changed a bit.  I had planned on getting a sleeper sofa from one of the local furniture stores and then I wandered into a hotel liquidation.......OH boy!!!!  This makes up for the closing delay....I am going to get two ( yes that is right) two 80 inch sofas with queen size real mattresses, two wood (no pressboard) end tables and one coffee table for the low low price of....273 dollars!  Oh, did I mention they are from one of the Disney hotels?????   Stanley Steemer you are about to get some business from me.  What excites me more is that now I will have extra money so now I can purchase the sliding patio doors that have the blinds between the glass because I absolutely abhor those contractor blinds.  Oh happy day when I get the keys to my new house!!!!!!

The bounty from the Expo

Yesterday I was a fountain of information at the Sewing and Quilting expo....i worked the information desk.  I chatted with some of the most interesting folks and really saw just how many folks were into quilting.  after doing my stint, I wandered around the Lakeland center and fell in love with so much fabric but had to break my own heart and limit my purchases.  This reflects some of the fabric I brought home.  I did meet a vendor from Australia who brought Aborigine fabric that I did scoop up.....

Sewing and quilting expo in Lakeland

Didn't insert these quite right but enjoy

First time attending this event I figured I would volunteer to help with setup....always one of the things people don't like doing.  It is definitely bigger than I expected and I have already seen so much quilting inspiration and that is just one room.  Here are some photos from the room I found most inspiring...at least so far

Quiltcon I'm a comin!

Well after hearing about all the frenzy trying to get a room for the Modern Quilt Guild QUILTCON convention in February I thought to myself "Self you better get a move on and make a reservation".  Luckily I am the proud owner of a 28' long fifth wheel trailer so a place to sleep isn't too bad but making sure you have a safe place to park your trailer.  Found a place 15 minutes from downtown (which works for me) ...Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort.  What makes it even sweeter is that they give military a 50% discount!  Woohoo!  Dan and I are planning on arriving a few days prior to the conference start so we can both enjoy the city before I get my quilt on.  Now I have to wait to find out the cost of convention and workshops (shudders)......

Sad Saks and shipped out to an oil rig

I am sorry to see Saks leaving Florida Mall as I will miss my buddy Chessie who ran the Bobbi Brown counter.  Luckily I slipped in today and saw her.  We chatted for a bit, exchanges numbers and I went off in search of closing bargains.  What did I find?  Three large fabulous framed photographs which I will post later.  The frames have scratches from moving in the store but nothing that can't be done.  The biggest reason I am stoked about them is the price....two were 150 and the larger picture was 300. Since the store was down to two days left, having sold off most of the fixtures the salesgirl let me have them for the bargain price of....70.00!  Happy happy me!

On another note, my son Brandon went off this week for orientation for a new job and did he ever move up.  Originally, he was going to go to a. Camp in Texas.  Well he calls me and starts jabbering like a yapping hyena.  When he finally calms down he said they have an opening on one of the oil rigs and does he want it, with a caveat of passing the water safety survival class...of course I said of and he said yes.  he passed his class and as I type he has already helicoptered out to his new home for the next three weeks.  His goal is to have them ship him overseas, hopefully to The Netherlands.  I am all for that.....it is a place the Navy never took me to!
