Debbe Diesel

well, its better than doing Dallas I suppose.  Dan the man has had an itch for a diesel truck for months.  Now I was perfectly happy with the one we had however I kept hearing about torque, gas mileage, torque.....you get the idea.  the first dealer we went to see was SOOOO pushy...even offering to let us take the truck home overnight (WRONG).  We didn't fall for that.  So the next day, Danno said lets go to another place so down the road we trucked.  And the result?  New (used) diesel truck, 60,000 miles less wear and new tires.  Now his fingers are skipping all over ebay and Amazon looking for various and sundry accessories (mostly mechanical).  It appears I will definitely be learning to drive the fifth wheel with this truck.....MORE POWER!

As for quilting, I've got a few irons in the fire....
This is the top of the lap quilt I am making for my sister.

Making placemats for my eventual inlaws....Dan's mom is from Denmark so I found some Viking fabric!

My quilt mentor is making a piece called all roads lead to the sea....piecing work
Her shop is here in Orlando, Quilter's Cove.

Isn't it absolutely beautiful?????

Going to Nashville for the TSE!!!!!

Dan agreed to accompany me to The Special Event Tradeshow in Nashville!  Not only will it be a cool road trip, we might trip on further north.  Never been to Nashville but thanks to Airbnb found a lovely studio to stay in rather than a hotel.  People rent out rooms or houses many times much less than a hotel and you have the feeling of home.  Check it out of your next trip:  www.airbnb.com

Friday the 13th Sew day

Going to Sew Day certainly gave me inspiration.....got a fair bit done on Dan's quilt
Only giving a little hint here.  Katherine our resident art quilt genius was working on an embroidery project....I love it so!

Now here is a design she created.

if only I were so gifted!!!!

Anyway, seeing some of the work my fellow quilters were doing I got a little inspired to complete some projects
A quilt top completed for my sister

Placemats for Dan's mom who is from Denmark hence the Vikings

Went to the Orlando Pottery show and saw some very cool stuff and managed to even buy a couple of pieces.....the birdhouses were pretty slick.

I did work a little on some quilting today but I must get off my rotund derriere and get busy finishing the binding!  I have a stack of things I need to work on!

I had decided that I would go to the Farmers Market in Winter Park today and buy some herb plants.  What a mistake.  Little did I know, once I got on New York avenue that there would be such a crowd. OK I thought...I decided to come out at ten am and should have come earlier so I will just go a few blocks away from the market and park.  Mistake number two.....after spending almost 20 minutes riding around with blockades everywhere, I finally broke down and went to public parking...maybe I
Figures that once I parked I saw a horse and carriage with Christmas Mickey and Minnie....and Santa and Mrs. Claus riding in a fire truck.  Oh you dummy....it is their Christmas parade.....
But I got my herbs and some rib tips...

I was supposed to go to the dentist today but sinusitis and sore throat kicked in so I won't be doing that visit (not that I was really looking forward to that).  But I did at least start to put up the new Christmas tree.  Three dogs and a nosy cat do not make for a tree to stand unharmed so I bought a pencil tree.  Here is the beginning of the decorating
Just the lights and 8 yards of ribbon so far.  I have to plow through the hundreds (yes I said Hundreds) of ornaments and decide what I want to showcase this year.  Call me a Holiday Hound....

After thanksgiving

For the second year in. Row I did not go crazy on Black Friday.  Hopped over to Joann's to pick up a light, storage boxes, fabric and some floss.  I think I limited myself because I have a touch of the flu....sucks!  I am doing a little bit of quilting in hopes I can spur myself into a more upbeat mood.

I'm part of the National Consumer Panel!!

Yep, that's right America...I have FINALLY become one of the people who is actually part of a consumer panel!  Just got my box and scanner via FedEx and anxiously waiting for the scanner to be fully charged so I can scan my first purchases. At Last, someone will "listen" to me!!!

Got to get busy quilting tomorrow!!
well it is supposed to rain today (of course, its my quilting day!) but I enjoy spending my Tuesdays at Quiter's Cove here in Orlando...great company, lots of fabric and I actually get something done!  Pics later.

End of the Festival

It has been a long week for the Council of 101 but things could not have gone better for us.  It is too early to tell just how much money we raised for the Museum but rest assured.....it's a lot!  Glad to see a couple of my fellow quilters come to the show too.  I think I must have painted about 300 kids over the course of the Festival so my fingers are exhausted.  Next up for the Council?  Our Antique and Garden Show in February! and even with the pictures I took......I did not take pictures of ALL of the wreaths and trees..... Last of my festival photos:

Now it is time to get ready for all the cooking for Thanksgiving and concentrating on doing some quilting!

Some old inspiring Festival of trees pics

That's me in the corner.....
